There’s Nothing New Under the Sun, Except…
All Scriptures are quoted from the King James Version
Dear Church,
This year’s Passover began after the sunset of Tuesday, April 4, 2023, marking 1,996 years since Jesus Christ died on the cross to redeem humanity from sin. According to details in the Bible, cross-referenced with historical sources, Jesus Christ was crucified on Wednesday, the 14th of Nisan, 3787, according to the Jewish calendar. This corresponds to Wednesday, April 9, 27 AD, according to the Julian calendar. It was around 3 pm when He took His last breath, and His body was buried before sunset, ending the Passover day [1].
Furthermore, this year’s Passover also marks 1,996 years since the people of Israel rejected Christ by handing Him over to the Romans. As a result, God punished them, leaving them in spiritual blindness until the fulfillment of the prophesied two days of punishment in Hosea 6:1-2.
“Come, and let us return unto the LORD: for he hath torn, and he will heal us; he hath smitten, and he will bind us up. After two days will he revive us: in the third day he will raise us up, and we shall live in his sight.”
The two days in that prophecy are equivalent to two thousand years, for a day to the Lord is like a thousand years:
“For a thousand years in thy sight are but as yesterday when it is past, and as a watch in the night” (Psalms 90:4).
“But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day” (II Peter 3:8).
In just four years, by the Passover of 2027, it will be exactly 2,000 years, the two prophesied days, since the people of Israel were punished by God, and He will make them alive in the Spirit, as the Holy Spirit has testified through the Apostle Paul in Romans 11:25-27:
“For I would not, brethren, that ye should be ignorant of this mystery, lest ye should be wise in your own conceits; that blindness in part is happened to Israel, until the fulness of the Gentiles be come in. And so all Israel shall be saved: as it is written, There shall come out of Sion the Deliverer, and shall turn away ungodliness from Jacob: For this is my covenant unto them, when I shall take away their sins.”
Therefore, the End Times could potentially begin in 2027 after God spiritually resurrects the people of Israel. That resurrection has also been prophesied in Ezekiel 37:9-10:
“Then said he unto me, Prophesy unto the wind, prophesy, son of man, and say to the wind, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Come from the four winds, O breath, and breathe upon these slain, that they may live. So I prophesied as he commanded me, and the breath came into them, and they lived, and stood up upon their feet, an exceeding great army.”
That also means that Christ can come at any time to take the Church out of the world before the End Times, for the End Times are the hour of temptation that shall come upon all the world to try them that dwell upon the earth:
“Because thou hast kept the word of my patience, I also will keep thee from the hour of temptation, which shall come upon all the world, to try them that dwell upon the earth” (Revelation 3:10).
Dear Church,
In recent days, as I have been reflecting on the coming of Christ and watching some YouTube videos discussing His arrival, I was reminded of the Word of God in Ecclesiastes 1:9-10:
“The thing that hath been, it is that which shall be; and that which is done is that which shall be done: and there is no new thing under the sun. Is there any thing whereof it may be said, See, this is new? it hath been already of old time, which was before us.”
I have known and pondered over these two Bible verses before, but this time, upon reflection, I have received a different understanding. I am grateful to God and would like to share it with you.
According to the two Bible verses mentioned above, everything we see and everything humans do under the sun on this earth has been done before. Absolutely nothing is new. Therefore, we can understand that handheld phones, computers, guns, bullets, airplanes, space exploration spacecraft, and even atomic weapons have all existed before.
In fact, historical records show that the first gasoline-powered engine was invented in 1876, the first electric light bulb in 1879, and electricity began to be widely used in the early 20th century. The first gasoline-powered car was invented in 1885, and the first successful airplane flight was made in 1903. In just about 120 years since then, humans have progressed very quickly, to the point we see today.
Imagine, more than a thousand years before the Great Flood, with a lifespan of up to eight or nine hundred years and physical and intellectual capabilities of humans back then undoubtedly superior to those of modern humans, how could humans not have made similar or even greater scientific discoveries than we have today? We really don’t know how much progress humanity had made during the time of Noah. However, if the world were to be hit by a global flood today, our entire civilization would be destroyed. The airplanes flying in the sky would all crash to the ground due to strong winds or lack of fuel. The largest ships would also sink since they do not have the same dimensions as Noah’s ark to withstand the large waves. All the weapons of nations, including atomic bombs, would be destroyed and buried deep in earthquakes caused by the Great Flood.
We understand and believe in the Word of God in Ecclesiastes 1:9-10 in a literal sense. This means that everything we see today and everything that humans have made had already existed and been made during the time of Noah. We consider and understand that the civilization of humans during Noah’s time was more advanced and progressive than ours. They did not live with rudimentary tools like humans did 200 years ago. Only after the Great Flood did human lifespan, health, and intelligence decrease, as the living environment had changed drastically. Perhaps that is why it took more than 4,400 years for humans to achieve the level of progress we see today.
However, Ecclesiastes 1:9-10 does not include God’s work. According to the prophecy of the Lord Jesus Christ, the events that occur during the seven years of the End Times are unprecedented and unparalleled:
“For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be” (Matthew 24:21).
The Book of Revelation clearly depicts the progression of the End Times. The contents of the book demonstrate that what will occur in the End Times has never happened before and will not happen again in the future. However, before the End Times occur, another unprecedented event must take place: the coming of Christ in the air, calling the Church to meet Him in the clouds and enter heaven with Him.
The Church comprises all those who have believed in the Gospel, lived according to the Word of God, and remained faithful until death or until the coming of Christ. Those who have died will be resurrected from the dust of the earth, and those who are still alive will be transformed. Each person will have a glorified and immortal body, like the resurrected body of Christ. Then, everyone will be lifted up into the air, meet Christ, receive their rewards, and follow Him into heaven. The Holy Spirit, through the Apostle Paul, taught this clearly:
I Corinthians 15:50-54
50 Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption.
51 Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed,
52 In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.
53 For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.
54 So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory.
I Thessalonians 4:13-18
13 But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope.
14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.
15 For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.
16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:
17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.
18 Wherefore comfort one another with these words.
Dear Church,
The fact that Christ will come among the clouds to take the Church out of the world is a truth of the Holy Bible. The prophecy regarding this truth can be fulfilled at any time during our lifetime. Our generation of the Church of God is greatly blessed because we will not have to experience the physical death when Christ comes among the clouds to take the Church out of the world. This truth is a prophecy of the Holy Bible that will be fulfilled at any time.
Let no one commit a sin or fall away from grace due to the desires of the flesh. The most regrettable thing is that someone might commit a sin when Christ comes and not have time to repent. We should focus on the coming of Christ. Whether we are grinding at the mill in the house or working in the field, that is, living a normal life while waiting for the Lord, our hearts should always be oriented towards His coming.
Today, while contemplating the words “Then shall two be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left. Two women shall be grinding at the mill; the one shall be taken, and the other left,” I suddenly realized that our Lord Jesus’ warning is not about one person believing in Jesus and the other not. Rather, Christ is referring to two people who both believe in Him, but one lives according to His Word and the other does not. They may even be people living in the same family. Surely, among all the people who claim to be the children of God living in the world, there will be many who are left behind when Christ comes.
The Holy Spirit affirmed through the Apostle Peter:
“The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance” (II Peter 3:9).
Christ Himself said:
“And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last. Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city” (Revelation 22:12-14).
Sadly, nowadays, many people claim to be God’s children but still casually break His commandments because they believe in the false teachings of churches that claim to be of God. They have the full Bible in their hands, but they do not reflect on it or follow it carefully. Instead, they blindly believe in the humanistic “theology” of demons, which is made-up ideas that are not in the Bible and intentionally distort God’s Word, just as Satan did with Eve and Jesus in the past.
However, Satan is still cunning and creates churches that bear God’s name, teaching the observance of the Saturday Sabbath commandment of God, which is the right thing, but they also teach many opposite “theological” ideas that go against the Bible. The true children of God only need to wholeheartedly follow His commandment in Joshua 1:8 and use the weapons of God in Ephesians 6:10-24. Then, they will surely not fall into Satan’s trap of false teachings.
“The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light.” (Romans 13:12).
Priscilla and I send our regards and wish that you, brothers and sisters, always stay awake and keep yourselves pure in the Lord. We hope to meet you in the clouds on the day when Christ comes. May the Word of God sanctify us and give us strength. May we all remain steadfast in faith and loyal to the Lord until the day when Christ comes. May the love, grace, and righteousness of the Triune God – the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit – cover you all. Amen!
