INTRODUCTION

Dear readers,

Greetings in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Thank you for choosing to read this book. We greet you in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ because this book was written in His name to help its readers to know Him, His salvation, His teachings, and the coming of His Kingdom.

We pray that this book, “The End of the World According to the Bible,” together with our other book, “Commentary on the Book of Revelation Verse by Verse,” will be a great blessing to you.

Some of the readers of these books will be Christians, who sincerely believe in the salvation of God, which was freely given to all people through the Lord Jesus Christ. The rest of the readers will be non-Christians, who do not believe in the salvation of God, but may want to know about salvation and the true doctrines of the Bible.

If you are a Christian, we pray that God the Holy Spirit, the Spirit of Truth, will lead you to the truth of God’s Word as interpreted in these books. We pray that He will give you the power to carefully and wholeheartedly live a life that follows the teachings of God’s Word. May these books awaken you, so you can be ready and eagerly await the coming of the Lord Jesus Christ.

If you are a non-Christian, we pray that God the Holy Spirit will lead you to salvation during or after reading these books. We also pray that these books will help you recognize the essential truth of life, so you can make a sound and critical decision for your life as soon as possible.

All of the glory forever belongs to our God, Lord of the heavens and the earth. Amen!

LIST OF SOME BIBLICAL AND THEOLOGICAL WORDS USED IN THIS BOOK

• Unless otherwise noted, all of the following Scriptures are from the King James Version (KJV), public domain.
• Used throughout this book is the following term that may be unfamiliar: *God. From the Biblical languages, we understand that “God” without a definite article was used as a collective noun for all and any of the three Persons of the Godhead, and “God” with a definite article was used to refer to God the Father. Thus, wherever the Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek texts used a definite article with a noun to denote God, it should be translated into English as “the God.” However, in English Bibles, the noun “God” is used as a proper name, without the definite article. So, to make up for the lack of clarity in English translations of the Bible, wherever the Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek texts used a definite article with a noun to denote God the Father, we place an asterisk (*) in front of “God” (*God) to remind the readers that, in the Biblical languages, the word “God” in that place has a definite article, denoting God the Father. For more details, please read this article: “God, the God, the Godhead” [1].

BCE and CE: BCE (Before Common Era) previous to year 1 CE (Common Era). Israel was established as a nation in 1948 CE.

THE BIBLE: Also called the Scripture. It is the Word of God written in Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek. The Bible consists of 66 books divided into two main parts. The first part is 39 books called “the Old Testament,” which were written mostly in Hebrew with some portions in Aramaic. They were written during the time when *God had an old covenant with mankind (~1446-430 BCE). The second part is 27 books called “the New Testament,” which were written in Greek some time after *God established a new covenant with mankind (~50-95 CE).

THE OLD TESTAMENT: The Old Testament was written during the covenant *God made with mankind through the people of Israel from the top of Mount Sinai in 1446 BCE. According to the covenant, those who keep His Ten Commandments will be blessed, and those who transgress His Ten Commandments will be cursed (Exodus 20; Deuteronomy 5).

THE I AM: This is the proper name of God, revealed by Him in Exodus 3:14. The noun’s form in Hebrew is יהוה, and it can be translated into English as “the Self-Existing One.” Most of the English Bible versions transliterated it into Jehovah, Yahweh, or “the LORD.”

THE LORD JESUS CHRIST: When God the Word became a man to die in the place of mankind to redeem it from its sins and punishment, He was conceived by *God in the womb of the Virgin Mary and was born into the world. He was named Jesus, which means “the Self-existing One is the Savior.” He is called the Lord because He is the ruler of everything, and He is called Christ because *God gave Him the authority to rule as a man, to be man’s High Priest, and to be *God’s prophet to mankind. As God the Word, Jesus is equal with *God. As a man, Jesus was born into flesh by *God, so He called *God His Father and His *God. Jesus also worshiped *God and served Him. Yet, Jesus was wholly God and wholly man at the same time since the moment He was conceived in the womb of the Virgin Mary. He was not just appearing in the form of mankind; He was a man. He was no less God when He was a man. Only, He did not take the authority and power of God with Him in order to live like a man and to die for mankind. He is the living example of the perfect man who does not sin.

THE CHRIST: This literally means “the one who is anointed by *God.” To be anointed by *God means to be chosen by Him and to be given authority, power, and gifts to do His works. In the time of the Old Testament, people who were chosen to be priests, kings, or prophets were anointed with pure olive oil. Pure olive oil symbolizes God’s Holy Spirit, which is the authority, power, and talents from God the Spirit. Only Jesus was called to be the eternal High Priest, King, and Prophet of *God for His chosen people. Thus, the title “the Christ” is reserved only for Jesus.

THE SPIRIT: This is God the Spirit. When referring to His dwelling and His works in the believers and in the Church, He is called the Holy Spirit to differentiate from the spirit of man and the unclean spirits that sometimes possessed man. The Holy Spirit is God and holy spirit (without the definite article) is the authority, power, and gifts given to God’s people through the Holy Spirit.

ANGELS: The spirits created by God to serve Him and His people. When the spirits sin, they become devils, which are unclean spirits.

SATAN: One of God’s archangels, who sinned and tempted many other angels to rebel against God. Satan means “the adversary.” His original name was “Lucifer,” meaning “light bearer or morning star.” Satan and the devils always try to tempt man into sinning against God. However, man has free will and can choose whether to honor God’s commandments or to yield to their temptations.

IDOLS: Can be whatever that is molded, casted, engraved, or sculpted in the form of a man or a woman, any animal on earth, any bird that flies in the air, any creature that moves along the ground, or any fish in the waters (Deuteronomy 4:16-18).

SIN: All thoughts, words, and actions that do not conform to God’s commandments.

REPENT: To sincerely regret or feel remorse about one’s wrongdoing or sin and then ceasing to commit that sin.

BELIEVE: To accept something as truth or to trust someone based on some evidence.

BELIEVE IN GOD: To accept God and to keep His commandments. One may claim that he or she believes in God, but they do not keep His commandments. Similarly, one may claim that he or she believes in the doctor, but they refuse to follow his treatments. That kind of “belief” does not benefit the “believer.”

BELIEVER OR DISCIPLE OF CHRIST OR CHRISTIAN: One who sincerely repented his or her sins, believes in the atoning death of the Lord Jesus Christ, and keeps the commandments of God. A Disciple of Christ or Christian means one who learns from and follows the Lord Jesus Christ.

FAITH: To trust in God based on spiritual apprehension rather than proof.

TO BE SAVED: To be released from the power of sin and its punishment. The power of sin forces one to continue to commit sins. The punishment for sin is eternal suffering in the lake of fire and separation from the Lord (Jesus, the Savior). Only the atoning death of Jesus Christ can save or release one from the power of sin and its punishment.

THE CHURCH: The body of all Christians at all times and places, dead or alive, without discrimination of race, age, sex, ability, social status, and level of education. There is only one Church and it was named by God the following names:

The Church of *God (I Corinthians 1:2)
The Church of the Lord Jesus Christ (Romans 16:6)
The Church in the Lord Jesus Christ (I Thessalonians 2:14)
The Church of God the Father (II Thessalonians 1:1)
The Church of God (I Timothy 3:5)
The Church of the Living God (I Timothy 3:15)
The Church of the saints (I Corinthians 14:33)
The Church of the firstborn ones whose names are written in heaven (Hebrews 12:23)
The Church is not a religious organization or its denominations.

CHRISTIANITY: A body of religious organizations created by man under the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. It is not the Church of the Bible. It includes: Catholicism, Eastern Orthodox, Oriental Orthodoxy, Church of the East, Protestantism, Non-Trinitarian groups, New Thought, Messianic Judaism, Esoteric Christianity, etc….

THE GOSPEL: The good news of the salvation that *God gave to the world as described in Luke 2:10-11:

“And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.”

GRACE: Free and unmerited favor of God as manifested in the salvation of sinners and the bestowment of His blessings on mankind.

THE RAPTURE: In the near future, the Lord Jesus Christ will appear in the clouds of the sky to call His Church to meet Him, and He will take them into heaven as prophesied in the Bible:

“Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.” (I Corinthians 15:51-53).

“For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep. For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.” (I Thessalonians 4:15-17).

The rapture can happen at any time, and it will commence before the Antichrist takes over the world. As each moment passes, the time of the rapture nears. The people of God should be ready for the rapture.

THE ANTICHRIST: Anti- is a prefix meaning “against” or “opposite of.” Antichrist means “against the Lord Jesus Christ.” Since the beginning of the Church, there were many antichrists. However, in the last days, during the Great Tribulation, there will be a last antichrist, who will take control of the entire world as prophesied in Revelation 13.

THE END OF THE WORLD: An event that will soon happen. *God will judge the entire world with seven years of punishment as prophesied in the book of Revelation. By the end of those seven years, also known as the Great Tribulation, all non-believers will die, and only the believers will survive.

THE THOUSAND-YEAR KINGDOM: At the conclusion of the end of the world, the Lord Jesus Christ will establish His Kingdom of 1,000 years with peace on earth. After the judgement that was prophesied in Matthew 25, all of the survivors of the end of the world will enter the Kingdom. Heaven and Earth will be restored, and the people’s knowledge about God will be complete (Isaiah 11).

THE LAST AND FINAL JUDGMENT: At the end of the One Thousand Year Kingdom, *God will destroy the heavens and the earth. Then, all of the dead who were not saved will be raised up from the dead. They will be judged before *God, as prophesied in Revelation 20:11-15:

“And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them. And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before *God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works. And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.”

THE ETERNAL KINGDOM: After the last and final judgment, *God will create the new heavens and the new earth. The Eternal Kingdom of *God will be established on the new earth. The City of *God from the third heaven will come down on the earth. *God will be with mankind forever as prophesied in Revelation 21 and 22.
